College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA)

The CRPNA has been regulating psychiatric nursing as a distinct profession in Alberta under the Health Professions Act since 1950.

As a College, CRPNA provides direction to and regulates the practice of psychiatric nurses. The College establishes, maintains and enforces the requirements for licensure/registration, standards for registration, code of ethics, standards of practice and continued competence of the Profession in a manner that serves and protects public safety.

College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS)

The CRPNS regulates psychiatric nursing as a distinct profession. As a professional association, RPNAS regulates the registration and licensing of psychiatric nurses in Saskatchewan.

College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM)

The CRPNM is the regulatory body for the psychiatric nursing profession in Manitoba. The CRPNM is mandated, by the government of Manitoba and the Regulated Health Professions Act, to carry out its activities and govern its members in a manner that serves and protects the public interest.

Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)

As the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN), we regulate LPNs, RNs and NPs in Nova Scotia on behalf of the public. In this role, we have an obligation to protect the public by overseeing the practice of approximately 19,000 nurses who are licensed to practise nursing in Nova Scotia. Our work helps Nova Scotians place their full confidence in the nurses who care for them, their families and their communities.

Prince Edward Island College of Nursing & Midwifery (PEICNM)

The Prince Edward Island College of Nursing & Midwifery (PEICNM) was established in 2026 following the merger of the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of PEI and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of PEI. The PEICNM serves the public by regulating all nurses and midwives practicing in PEI in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and its Regulations.

All nurses, which includes registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), registered psychiatric nurses (RPNs), and licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and midwifes in PEI must be registered by PEICNM in order to practice nursing or midwifery in the province.

Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses (NLCN)

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses (NLCN) is the regulatory body for all Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses in the province. The primary mandate of the College is public protection. The College achieves this by ensuring that all RNs and NPs meet the requirements for registration and annual licensure, and by promoting standards for safe, competent and ethical nursing practice.

Government of Yukon, Professional Licensing & Regulatory Affairs

The Government of Yukon’s Department of Professional Licensing & Regulatory Affairs regulates a number of health and business professions in the Yukon, including Psychiatric Nurses. Its work includes: licensing professionals and professional corporations; setting standards and policies; managing complaints; and supporting the development of regulations.

College of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CNNN)

The CNNN was created by and operates in accordance with provisions of the Nursing Profession Act of the NWT and the Nursing Professions Act of Nunavut.

Its dual mandate is to protect the public and promote a sustainable future for nurses in the North.
